Off Topic Venting

I know this has nothing to do with music or filmmaking, but I need to vent. VENT!

I've noticed that someone who works in my building leaves their dog chained up in the back of their pickup truck all day long. So I left a note for them on the windshield that read: Do not leave your dog chained up in the back of your truck or I will call the SPCA. I watched the truck from the window and noticed that the guy didn't return for over 4 hours, so I called animal services.

Animal services talked to the guy for awhile but the end result was that because there was water in the truck, and it wasn't too hot or cold outside, he was not in violation. Of course, he was pissed at ME. He said it was none of my business, and that he had the dog there because she was 'lonely at home,' and this way he could come out at lunch and visit her.

Now, it seems to me that if the guy was really worried about his dog's state of mind, he wouldn't leave her alone for 4+ hours chained up in the back of a truck. He would leave her with a friend or a dog day care. And what about the dog's safety? Someone could easily come along and take her.

So I'm not sure I actually accomplished anything on the dog's behalf - but at least the guy was talked to by the animal cops and I hope that, pissed at me or not, he at least starts to think about what he's doing. Of course if I ever run into him again in the building it's probably not going to be pretty.

Why do people, when they feel guilty about getting caught, tend to turn to anger as a defense? It's like they think, "If I get really angry then I can scare off this other person who is pointing out my bad behavior." I have witnessed this COUNTLESS numbers of times, from the guy today, to a guy in the dog park whose dog attacked my dog and then the guy verbally attacked ME, to another guy who I caught parking in a handicap space and when I told him "Hm, you don't look handicapped to me," he moved his car and then SCREAMED at me "ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?" to which I calmly replied,"yes, I am."
