Roberto's Halloween Special

A collaborative Halloween Special I threw together starring Roberto the Murloc, Mojache the Mage, Drewbie the Rogue and Macheath the...also the mage.

Thanks to Drew and Ben at Oblivious Films and Rob at Witty Wizard for being good sports about all this. I was laughing as I was cutting this together. If you don't get why some of this is funny, watch some of their films and it will become a little clearer.

EDIT: A few people have been interested in a higher quality version so until I get the divx page up, here's an .avi download link (103mb).

A little somethin-somethin for Halloween

For all the Snacky fans - keep your eyes peeled this Wednesday for a co-op Halloween Special I'm throwing together...with special guest stars! OOH!

Doing this at light speed so it won't be my usual quality, but I guarantee it will amuse you.

People are Stupid about their Dogs

So every night I walk Kenji, my dog, up and down and around the neighborhood. And often we run into this couple who are walking a pair of very unruly looking dogs, who always bark and scramble to get at us when we pass by. These guys never discipline them but just pull them to the other side of the street and wait for us to pass by while the dogs pull crazily on the ends of their leashes and bark and bark.

So tonight I pass these guys again per usual and they take their dogs to the other side of the street and actually hide behind a parked car. I felt after weeks of walking past them finally compelled to say something to them, so I asked them if they ever took their dogs to a dog training class.

Them: "We like our dogs the way they are."

Me: "Have you ever watched the Dog Whisperer? I learned a lot from that show, it's a great show."

Them: "Oh yeah, but our dogs are awesome."

So why, I was thinking, are you the ones hiding behind the parked car while my dog stands calmly by my side? You are hiding because your dogs are so awesome?? WTF?

I'm sure they thought I was a jerk for suggesting that they couldn't control their dogs and that they were less than perfect. People are really blind sometimes.

Snackys 1-3 to screen in the UK

On October 12-14, the first ever European Machinima Festival will be held in Europe at the De Montfort University Campus Centre in Leicester, UK.

There were a lot of 'award categories' which we didn't get nominated for in this festival (I haven't seen a lot of the nominees but I imagine the competition was fierce) but we did get selected to screen, which is fine with me. Only four machinima authors from our game, World of Warcraft, were selected at all, so I consider it honor enough to be included.

Now that brings up an interesting phenomenon. In any international competitive setting, the usual route is to root for the people from the same country - for example, the Olympics. Well, in machinima, your fellow 'countrymen' aren't the ones from the same country, they are the ones from the same GAME! Doesn't matter where they are from in the real world, but the fact that we are all from the same virtual world is what makes us bond, root, and support each other.

HUH!
