Snacky's Journal nominated

Snacky's Journal (the show) has been nominated for 4 Mackies - Best Directing, Writing, Editing, and Series! Woot! Also, "The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Mechanico" and "The Ballad of the Noob" were honorary mentions in the Best Virtual Performance and Best Music categories.

Thanks to the Academy of Machinima Arts and Sciences for the nominations. I think I am going to be flying out to New York this time for the festival. "The Revenge of Dr. Mechanico" was nominated at their last award ceremony in 2006 but I didn't go (and didn't win :P). Yes, they skipped last year for unknown reasons.

The festival page is here, for any of you who live in New York and would like to attend.

Air Date - Finally

With all the labor on Snacky I almost forgot to mention that my short film, "Kyle + Rosemary" that I made TWO FREAKIN' YEARS AGO for Nickelodeon is FINALLY going to be aired. The shorts series is called 'Random! Cartoons' and will begin airing in December. I don't think my particular film will be airing until January or February, but another of my friend's shorts that I directed, "Yaki and Yumi", will be.

Please visit the Kyle + Rosemary site if you need a memory refresher. I know I do. I'll let you know when the exact airdate of the short will be when it gets closer.

Film Fests in the U.K.

Two of my films are being screened in the U.K. this month in two separate festivals, if you happen to be a fan of machinima and you happen to be in the U.K....

First off, my City of Heroes comedy The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Mechanico has turned up at the Renderyard Film Festival, in London (and simultaneously in Spain). The festival is actually almost over, I'm just a lazy blogger, as it ran from Sep 18-20 and I think my film was already shown.

The other film fest where you can catch Snacky's Journal 3 on the big screen is at the Cambridge Film Festival, which this year is hosting 4 full screenings of machinima. (Watch out everyone, our underground medium is getting less underground by the day!) Snacky will be screening Monday, Sept 22, 6pm, at the Arts Picture House, along with a bunch of other short films. So if you're near Cambridge and you're interested in seeing machinima on the big screen, click the link for more information.

Working on Snacky!

A still frame from Snacky's Journal, episode 4. This has probably been the most complex shot (at least in terms of total number of layers, definitely over 100) that I've done to date. My computer was complaining. A lot. I had to restart it twice. :(
